Energy system modeling

Research project AIRE  - requirements for infrastructures in the context of the energy system transformation: Participation in the analysis of the effects of the energy system transformation on the infrastructures of electricity, gas and heat. The focus is on applications of sector coupling and the development of type regions for the integrated consideration of infrastructure effects.

LFS3 - Langfristszenarien für die Transformation des Energiesystems in Deutschland: Development and execution of methods for the investigation of possible transformation paths for the energy system in Germany. The necessary steps for a 95% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 are analyzed quantitatively on the basis of scenarios. The focus lies on the effects on the gas sector and the effects of a long-term phase-out of fossil gases. The transition to a hydrogen economy in the context of sector coupling is another part of the analysis.
